An extension of the Metropolitan Route Numbering System was introduced on to the Mornington Peninsula in 1989. These routes were spread out throughout the peninsula, serving communities between Frankston, Rosebud and Flinders. A total of 8 routes were signed, numbered between 60 and 73. As like with State Routes, these routes were replaced by the Statewide Route Numbering Scheme with new signs appearing in 1998.
