| State Route 34 is an extension of Metropolitan (State) Route 34 north-eastwards from Lilydale to Alexandra in 1986, as part of the State Route Numbering Scheme. The route followed the Maroondah Highway through the Yarra Valley, providing a through route to Healesville, Marysville, Lake Eildon and the snow resort of Lake Mountain. SR34 shared the road with SR175 between Healesville - Koo Wee Rup Road and Healesville - Kinglake Road from 1990 onwards until the route numbering change. Maroondah Highway is two-lane single carriageway, and is especially windy for 15 km through the notorious yet picturesque Black Spur. In 1998, the entire route was replaced by B300 between Lilydale - Montrose Road and Melba Highway, and B360 between Melba Highway and Goulburn Valley Highway. |
