~1990 - 1996

State Route 154 ran between the roundabout with the Hume Link Highway in Wodonga to the Ovens Highway (now Great Alpine Road) at Tarrawingee. It was a later addition to the State Route Numbering System, most likely around 1990. The route's purpose was to serve the gold rush town of Beechworth, as well as wineries on foothills of the Great Dividing Range.

Beechworth - Wodonga Road and Beechworth - Wangaratta Road are of a 2 lane single carriageway for it's entire route.

In 1996, the entire route was replaced by C315 in the Statewide Route Numbering Scheme, one of the first State Routes to be decommissioned as part of the trial in North Eastern Victoria.
